Clinging Vine Scissors (C)

Clinging Vine Scissors (C)- Gold and Silver - 4 1/4 inches long

Vines are classified as either climbers or creepers. A vine may use rock exposures, other plants, or other supports for growth rather than investing energy in a lot of supportive tissue, enabling the plan to reach sunlight with a minimum investment of energy. Examples include bittersweet, most grapes, some honeysuckles, ivy, lianas, and melons.

The vine is a symbol of both youth and eternal life or rebirth. A wine harvest represents a continuous cycle of life. It is also used as a religious symbol of Christ. Jesus was the true vine and his people were the branches (John 15:1,5). The True Vine, therefore, symbolizes Jesus, the God-Man, humanity's union with Him and our dependence on Him.

The grape vine is a symbol of Israel, and a symbol of blessing and fertility. "Israel will grow as the vine" (Hosea 14:8) and "Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine" (Psalm 128:3). Later, in the Talmud, the symbol grew larger and the vine became the world or Jerusalem.

The name Gaelic name Fiona means vine.
